Barb Reavis Brief description of written submissions
  • Kris Kitchen, Local Area II submitted a form marked Capacity Building. Since Kitchen was present, members asked her to speak. Kitchen stated that Local Areas are best suited to determine the needs but if the money were divided to Local Areas, a plan would be in order
  • Jack Strukel, KWIP member, had offered written support to assist older worker programs
  • Reavis offered a suggestion that skills of front line workers in one-stops should be assessed and training offered for building successful competencies.

Cook led a discussion among members about the State Set Aside, KWIP's role in distribution, centralization and decentralized services, and insuring all the money doesn't go to administration only. Reavis is to meet with Armand Corpolongo about the proposals and the allowable expenses under WIA regulations. She will forward something to Leadership Team members prior to the meeting in Emporia on Friday, August 10.

Because a question was raised during a presentation about $400,000 in State Set Aside from Welfare to Work, Linda Ramirez Gonzalez agreed to present at the September 28 KWIP meeting on the program, including local area status.

Cook adjourned the meeting at 10:55 a.m.
