Workforce Network of Kansas
Marketing Task Force
October 16, 2002
Participating in the conference call: David Brennan, Local Area II; Steve Jack, KDHR; Kathy Ketchum, KDHR; Kris Kitchen, Local Area II; Jon Pettus, Local Area V; Kristi Pankratz, KDHR; Tanya Schlegel, KDHR. Also participating were Konnie Leffler and Barb Reavis, Workforce Network of Kansas staff
After self-introductions, status reports were made on each item within the Marketing the Workforce Network of Kansas to Employers plan:
§ Letter to employers, broadcast advertising-KJL job orders. The letters have gone and the Kansas Association of Broadcasters spots have been running. Within the first two weeks after the letters hit, KJL experienced a 25% increase in employers with job orders. The site now has about 2,000 employers with over 3,000 job orders. (Ketchum)
§ Employer Success stories. Even though this was not an individual item on the plan, these might be used in the PowerPoint presentation or any number of other printed materials. Schlegel has been working on collecting success stories from employers. Local areas and state partners are urged to help locate those stories. Tanya will write the story and coordinate any photo opportunities. (Ketchum)
§ Speakers Bureau. Over thirty Chambers were contacted, looking for their interest in having speakers. The response was so enthusiastic, we have ceased contacting potential opportunities to speak and are concentrating on materials and preparing to recruit speakers. (Leffler)
§ PowerPoint presentation. The PowerPoint presentation is under construction. We are using generic, stock photos since we don't have photos to accompany employer success stories yet. We are trying to make the PowerPoint presentation information with a light touch. (Leffler)
§ Statistics Employers Can Use. This piece should be ready next week for its final review prior to printing. (Ketchum)
§ Employer's Internet Recruiting Guide. This booklet is nearly ready to share with others for feedback. For the most part, it is a take-off from one done in Minnesota. Schlegel has been working of getting a complete list of web sites for inclusion. It will be circulated to the Marketing Task Force prior to finalization. (Ketchum)
§ Employer News Service. There is nothing to report on this item. (Ketchum)
§ Customer Feedback Process. The Quality Task Force has provided feedback on the questions and format. Reavis is meeting with a database expert this week to insure the flow of the responses will be easy to feed into Access. The next step will be layout. (Reavis)
§ Employer Services brochure. Jack had provided several suggestions for changes and outlined those for the participants. Reavis will follow up with Steve Kelly, KDOCH about some of Jack's concerns before deciding whether to delete or keep Business Retention and Expansion Section, Kansas Economic Opportunity Initiatives Fund and Kansas Existing Industries Expansion Program. Ketchum expressed gratitude for Leffler's work editing and writing copy for this brochure. Ketchum thinks a layout draft would be ready about one week after finalizing the text copy. (Leffler)
The phone meeting adjourned approximately at 10:45 a.m. The next
meeting of the Marketing Task Force will be by telephone November 13, 10
a.m. unless notified differently.
