Workforce Network of Kanas
Marketing Task Force Meeting
July 10, 2002
Participating in the conference call: Natalie Bright, Local Area IV; Dianne
Glass, Regents; Kathy Ketchum, KDHR; Kris Kitchen, Local Area II; Jon Pettus,
Local Area V; Al Rolls, Local Area III. Also participating were Kathy Markham
and Barb Reavis, Workforce Network of Kansas staff
Agenda items for discussion:
§ How the WNK marketing will support and complement Local Area efforts
§ Plans for marketing to Job Seekers and Internally
Members introduced themselves. Markham was welcomed to the group, as she will be serving as the Special Projects Assistant beginning July 21. For this year, she will be focusing on items highlighted on the Marketing the Workforce Network of Kansas to Employers, including developing the Speakers Bureau, PowerPoint presentation, and the Employer Services Brochure. At this point, it is known that Local Area IV already has a PowerPoint presentation, Local Area II has some video footage and commercials, and Local Area V has a radio ad underway. Markham and Reavis will seek direct feedback from each Local Area about what each one wants and needs from this statewide effort.
Some ideas were shared about statewide groups to which presentations could be offered. Those included the state conference of the Kansas Society of Human Resource Managers and the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was agreed that brainstorming via email might produce some other ideas about statewide groups of employers.
Ketchum shared that Unemployment Insurance will be sponsoring billboards again in Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City, directing claimants to Kansas Job Link. Kitchen wondered if localized information could be added to the billboards, getting double duty for the expense. Ketchum will take that suggestion to William Sanders at KDHR.
Members supported the suggestion that an encompassing plan be developed
for marketing to job seekers and marketing internally. Those will be the
topics of discussion at the next meeting of the Marketing Task Force. That
next meeting is set for August 14, 10 a.m., in the First Floor Conference
Room, Topeka Workforce Center, 1430 SW Topeka Blvd.
