Workforce Network of Kansas
Quality Task Force
January 10, 2002

Participating in the conference call meeting: Glenn Fondoble, Local Area I; Jerry Hiatt, WNKB; Clark Jacobs, Hutchinson Community College; Kris Kitchen, Local Area II; David Moore, KDOCH; Paul Osborn, Regents; Arwayne Peters, WNKB; Al Rolls, Local Area III; Randy Stout, Education; Jim Stowell, Local Area V; Linda Weaver, KDHR; Barb Reavis, Workforce Network of Kansas staff

Members were introduced for the benefit of Randy Stout, a new member.

Reavis read the Workforce Network of Kansas vision to focus the meeting discussions.

Reavis reported that Continuous Improvement plans have been received from all five local areas. Three have been approved and the letters are ready to go out from KDHR's office. One of the remaining areas has been asked for additional information. The other plan is still receiving feedback from members of this task force.

Members agreed the following reporting points would be useful to keep the Workforce Network of Kansas Board updated about the local area continuous improvement activities:

1. Research planned, or accomplished, especially related to customer needs;
2. Staff development training provided;
3. Baseline measurements for improvement in each of the KAE categories;
4. Measurements to be used to measure success toward achieving outcomes;
5. Targeted outcomes that are planned or have been achieved; and
6. Specific problem(s) identified (including failure to meet outcomes) and activities planned, or conducted, to address these problem(s).

Members agreed a prescribed format would simplify reporting and make it easier for Board members to understand the follow. Hiatt described a form used by Cessna that he is willing to share. Moore requested those written reports be distributed with Board packets to allow time to review prior to the meetings.

Osborn reminded we need to be sure we are reporting outcomes, not inputs. The numbers of people served does not show how the service had effected the people.

The next meeting will be February 14, 1:30 p.m. Members should expect that to be a conference call unless notified differently.
