Workforce Network of Kansas
Quality Task Force
December 13, 2001

In attendance: Glenn Fondoble, Local Area I; Clark Jacobs, Hutchinson Community College; Paul Osborn, Board of Regents; Linda Weaver, KDHR; Barb Reavis, Workforce Network of Kansas staff

Self-introductions were not necessary. Members approved minutes from the November 8 meeting.

Reavis asked members to help clarify what to do with feedback received from members in relation to Local Area Plans for Continuous Improvement. After much discussion, it was determined Reavis should work with the Local Areas to clarify or improve the Plans to meet the concerns.

Local Area I's plan was discussed. Some members had asked for additional specific information about anticipated activities, responsibilities and outcomes. Reavis will send that request by email to Fondoble to allow his thoughtful response.

Jacobs reported that Local Area IV's board had approved spending $27,000 on assistive equipment for one-stops as a part of the Continuous Improvement Plan from that Area. Members discussed whether or how equipment purchase fit within what others believed the planning grant documents would contain. Reavis expressed a desire to see how the purchase would fit in a continuous improvement plan. Weaver didn't know that there was any restriction that disallowed equipment purchase.

Reavis asked members what process they felt appropriate for the Workforce Network of Kansas Board to establish statewide indicators for recognizing success toward the Board's Vision and Mission. It was recommended the Board define indicators for success and the Quality Task Force define measures and methodology.

Reavis raised the issue of whether the meetings were excluding the interests of Board members since none have attended for the past few meetings. She will poll members for best and worst meeting times but may also wish to reconsider the meeting structures. At this time, the next meeting is set for January 10, 1:30 p.m. at 1430 SW Topeka Blvd.
